The revolution of change of direction training
and of reactive agility

Plus Training System

PTS®
TRAINING METHOD

Plus Training System is a training method focusing on change of direction and agility that is based on the use of elements of progressive difficulty within a combination of standardized movements.

Every combination  consists of 4 changes of directions, 3 sensory changes and the administration of information via visual and auditory signals of different meanings.

Is training an athlete’s agility and training his/her ability to efficiently change direction is one and the same thing?

Certainly not!

Executing a change of direction means executing a pre-meditated movement, thanks to which, we are able to produce a change of direction of the movement of the whole body, of the speed in which it is carried out, or both.

Executing a pre-meditated movement, depends on the type of exercise that needs to be carried out, whereby the athlete can then mentally plan the succession of movements required of individual body parts, which together, result in a change of direction of the whole body.

Training an athlete’s agility on the other hand, means training their ability to produce a rapid movement of their whole body, or of a particular limb, in response to an unexpected stimulus.

Agility training can be divided in to at least two main components:

  • Training of the perceptual and associative phase
  • Training of the motor execution phase in response to an unexpected stimulus

Splitting up the training into these two components allows us to work on two different areas, specifically, the neurophysiological component and the neuromotor/neuromuscular component.

The different combinations offered by Plus Training System is based on a cross pattern, in which 4 peripheral units surround a central unit, at a distance of 4 meters.

The peripheral units are denominated by the following:

  • First sagittal unit: the unit at which the athlete starts
  • First lateral unit: the unit which is placed on the left of the starting unit (the first sagittal unit)
  • Second sagittal unit: the unit placed opposite the starting unit
  • Second lateral unit: the unit placed to the right of the starting unit and opposite the first lateral unit.

The segments which connect the central unit to the two adjacent peripheral units, are placed at 90 degrees, and therefore, a cross pattern is created.

In this pattern, the athlete ALWAYS moves from one peripheral unit towards the central unit and vice versa. There is NEVER a direct route from one peripheral unit to another.

Avremo quindi sequenza mirate all’allenamento di:

FORMATIVE PROCESS

Enter in to the world of Plus Training System

A formative path is proposed as the first step to enter into the world of the Plus Training System. This is fundamental so as to understand the training method; its theoretical basis as well as the tools and technology which it makes use of.

Participation in the courses offered by PTS provides access to the RESERVED AREA, containing theoretical and technical material, numerous exercises and updated advice on training programmes.
